The holiday season is fast approaching and we will soon be entring into Advent, a time of preparation to celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. It is always a joyous celebration. To help us prepare for this great feast, the St. Bernardine Fil-Am Association is hosting the annual Simbang Gabi Mass at our parish. Simbang Gabi literally means “night mass”. In the Philippines, it is celebrated in the early morning hours at 4:00 am or 5:00 am from December 16th to December 23rd. After the masses, the celebration continues with the food vendors displaying a variety of delicacies in the churchyard and lighted paper lanterns (parols) hanging from house windows along the streets to the church. Simbang Gabi announces that Christmas is just around the corner, and it hopes to offer a deepening of spiritual experience that will lead to a more meaningful Christmas season. It is further hoped that this celebration may facilitate a better sharing of faith and culture in the parish, thereby strengthening fellowship and family life in the community. Our sisters and brothers of the Fil-Am Association have generously chosen to share with the whole family of St. Bernrdine’s this wonderful celebration on December 9, 2017. Mass is at 5:00 pm followed by a sharing of food and delicacies in Fearon Hall. Please come and participate in our celebration.
