For six weeks we have journeyed through the Lenten season seeking to better our prayer life with God. We participated in Parish Mission, Stations of the Cross and Parish Reconciliation. We fasted in solidarity with others in need and gave alms (Operation Rice Bowl.) In the last week, we have witnessed the institution of the Holy Eucharist on Holy Thursday and witnessed Christ’s passion and death on Good Friday. Thank you very much to all who prepared, coordinated and participated in these Lenten observances.
Today we are filled with joy, for we celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord. He died on the cross, but now he has been raised from death to new life. Today we are filled with hope, for the sacrifice he made on the cross has opened the way to eternal life. His sacrifice is our salvation. Today we are filled with praise, for Jesus Christ has won victory over the grave. He has redeemed humanity.
During the liturgy of Easter Vigil two of our parishioners, Sarah Brooker, and Jessie Babcock, received sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion. Congratulations! We are very happy to have you in full communion with the Catholic Church. Thanks to the sponsors and all in the RCIA group for your dedication in this ministry.
In the coming weeks of the Easter season, we explain the mystery of love that surpasses sin and death. We witness with the disciples the Lord’s presence in our midst. May these coming weeks of Easter joy deepen our love for the Lord, as we realize his love for us. May these weeks embolden and deepen our faith to live lives of discipleship.
On behalf of all our parish staff and parish leadership organizations, I wish all of you a very blessed Easter. Enjoy the weeks ahead!
Next Sunday is celebrated as Divine Mercy Sunday.
