Pastor’s Desk: February 10 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners,

Fr. Stanislaw Kuca

Fr. Stanislaw Kuca

We are called to be disciples of Jesus. It is not enough just to believe; we are asked to take up our cross and follow him. We are challenged to make sacrifices. We are challenged to live out our faith. We are challenged to be the face of Jesus to those we meet. As we celebrate Mass today, let us look for ways that we can better live out our faith.

Every year at this time parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago participates in the Annual Catholic Appeal. This year’s Appeal continues and expands last year’s theme: Come follow me… and share the Word. Followers of Jesus continue his mission in the world and they share his message. The Appeal enables us to share the Word in our support of schools, parishes in need, religious education programs, ministry formation, the protection of life, the promotion of peace and justice, and assistance to victims of natural disasters through Catholic Relief Services.  Our 2019 goal is 6% of the previous year’s offertory income. For Fiscal Year 2017-2018, our offertory income was $297,674. Therefore our target for the 2019 Appeal is $17,860.44. As you know, when contributors exceed the goal, St. Bernardine will receive a rebate of 100% of the funds donated over the goal. Announcement Weekend will be February 16-17, Commitment Weekend – February 23-24.

Two months ago I announced a pilgrimage to Italy which will take place in October 2019. If you decided to be a part of the pilgrimage, please bring filled out forms to the rectory. If you have any questions, please call me or the rectory. Next weekend I will extend an invitation to other parishes.

Keeping in our prayers all those who are sick, let us ask God to keep us healthy in body and spirit.

 God bless you.

Fr. Stan
