Through the parable of the good Samaritan, Jesus teaches us how we should treat each other. At this time of year, when many of us will be traveling on vacations, weekend trips, or afternoon outings, we can easily imagine we are traveling that road from Jerusalem to Jericho. As we celebrate the Eucharist today, let us reflect on whether we have taken the lesson of this Gospel.
On Saturday, June 29th, many of our parishioners enjoyed a picnic-style meal of hot dogs, burgers, chips, and beverages as we celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of Fearon Hall. So many delicious desserts and salads were donated by our parishioners as well, and I thank you all very much for that. I think all would agree that the Hall looks beautiful. We still need to install the permanent blinds, mount the TV’s and hang the “Fearon Hall” letters, but overall, it looks great! Plans to continue with the renovation, (cafeteria and kitchen) will begin this fall. With good luck, everything will be complete in time for our Annual Game Day, which is scheduled for November 10th this year.
Congratulations to the winners of our Big Cash Raffle! Four winners took home a total of $5,000! A heartfelt “thank you” to Dorothy Lambke, who won the first prize of $2,500 and donated it back to the church, and to Bryan and Carolyn Brown, who won the second prize of $1,250. Bryan and Carolyn also donated their winnings to the church and Youth Group. Thank you so much, Dorothy, Bryan, and Carolyn!
Big thanks to all volunteers for planning and serving during this event. Your service to our parishioners is just amazing! Thank you!
Last weekend we initiated the Summer way of celebrating Masses here at St. Bernardine. The Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass and Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass were celebrated in new Fearon Hall. Sunday 8:00 a.m. Mass was celebrated in the Church. Fearon Hall looks clean and beautiful and qualifies very well as a place of worship. Thanks to Helen Kreidermacher, Carol Good, Julie Doloszycki and Kathy Plepel who put a lot of energy in adapting the hall into a chapel.
As we enjoy the Summer we ask for abundant blessings for all our parishioners, especially for those who are sick and in hospitals.
God bless you,
