In the Gospel today Jesus compares himself to a shepherd protecting his sheep, promising his disciples that he will hold them securely in his hands. How appropriate that this wonderful image is presented on Mother’s Day. Today we honor all types of mothers who have loved us, protected us, and held us, those who have treated us with the tender loving care of the Good Shepherd. Let us give thanks today for all our mothers, living and deceased.
This weekend we have an opportunity to support the people in need through our second collection for Catholic Charities. This is the only collection for Catholic Charities held across all parishes out of the whole year and will directly benefit the people among us facing enormous obstacles. A Catholic Charities location is always nearby to help them improve their life, offering their guidance, experience, and support, but they cannot do their work without your generosity.
The project in Fearon Hall is progressing nicely. A new ceiling is done, including electric. Wainscoting is done as well. Painting is 50% completed. We will start floors this week.
Mother’s Day blessing: Loving God, as a mother gives life to her children, so you watch over the Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Happy Mother’s Day!
