It’s nearly a month since Easter Sunday, but there is a reason that we celebrate this event so long. The Resurrection changes everything. A whole new world has been opened up to us. No wonder God says, “Behold, I make all things new” in the vision from the Revelation that we hear today. As we celebrate this liturgy today, let us thank and praise God for all ways in which our lives have been made new.
Last Sunday our second collection was for Catholic Charities. We collected $1,406.00. Thank you for your generosity.
Our Patron, St. Bernardine, is commemorated on May 20th. Traditionally we organized a party and had a good social time. This year the renovation of Fearon Hall is in progress, so we can’t do it in this manner. On the other hand, we don’t want to let the feast day of our patron saint go unnoticed. This year I would like to invite all for a simple cookie and coffee reception after 10:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday in the parish courtyard. It will be an occasion for many to see changes in that area, and maybe an opening of the courtyard for the Summer.
Week by week our capital project of renovation of Fearon Hall looks better and better. Do you remember round columns in the hall? You will not see them anymore. They were covered by square-shaped covers and in my opinion, look much better.
This weekend we host Issam from “Star of Bethlehem Group.” Issam brings hand-crafted olive wood gifts from the Holy Land. The profit from sales goes directly to the needy Catholic schools and clinics in the Holy Land. Every single thing we buy makes a difference. Please stop in the vestibule after Mass.
Let us pray for good weather in the rest of May which will allow us to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation even more.
God bless you,
